Water Damage Repair

A water-damaged wall never heals on its own — it only gets softer, darker, and riskier the longer it sits. Our crew strips out the ruined drywall, dries and checks what’s behind it, and rebuilds the surface so it’s strong, clean, and ready for paint again.

Why Soaked Drywall Always Gets Replaced

Drywall isn’t waterproof. Once water soaks through the paper face, the board loses its strength, sags under its own weight, and crumbles at a touch. And the damp cavity behind it is prime territory for mold, which grows quietly out of sight until it’s a much bigger bill.

That’s why we never paint over water damage or skim coat a soft wall. The ruined board comes out. The space behind it gets inspected, dried, and treated. Only then does new drywall go in.

Where the Water Usually Comes From

Plumbing behind walls. Supply lines to sinks, toilets, and washing machines fail at fittings and corners. The wall or ceiling below shows the damage, sometimes a room away from the leak itself.

Storm and roof leaks. Richardson gets its share of hail and straight-line winds. Water sneaks past damaged shingles and rides the framing until it drips through a ceiling.

Water heaters and appliances. A tank that lets go or a washer hose that splits can dump gallons in minutes — garages and laundry closets are the usual scenes.

AC condensation. In North Texas summers, air conditioners run nonstop. A clogged condensate line drips into the attic day after day, and the ceiling below pays for it.

How We Rebuild the Wall

  1. Stop the water for good — we confirm the leak is fixed before any rebuild starts
  2. Open and remove the ruined board, plus anything soft or stained behind it
  3. Dry and treat the cavity, insulation, and framing, checking adjacent rooms too
  4. Install fresh drywall, cut to fit and fastened properly
  5. Tape, coat, texture, and blend so the new work matches the old wall exactly

We report what we find behind the wall — and when the source is a plumbing or roofing job for another trade, we tell you plainly so nothing gets missed.

Speed Matters More Than You Think

A wall dried and treated in the first day or two often keeps most of its surrounding finish. A wall that sits damp for a week usually spreads — more board out, soaked insulation, mold treatment, bigger cost. Call as soon as you find the problem and we’ll move you up the schedule.

Contained, Cleaned, Hauled Off

Demolishing wet drywall is grimy work, but the mess stays inside our containment. We seal off the zone, protect floors, bag the ruined material, and carry it out with us. What you’re left with is a clean space ready for the rebuild — not a swamp.
