Installation & Wall Replacement
Some damage is too far gone for a patch, and some walls haven’t been born yet — a remodeled kitchen, a finished attic, an addition on the back of the house. Both call for full drywall work from the studs out. Our installation service covers everything from hanging the first sheet to the final coat of texture.
Patch or Replace? We Tell You Honestly
Replacement is the right call when:
- Water has soaked through and the board is soft, swollen, or peeling
- The same spot keeps failing because there’s no solid backing left behind it
- Mold or contamination sits behind the surface, which needs removal — not covering
- A remodel opens the wall for wiring or plumbing and leaves raw studs behind
- Old plaster is failing across a large area of a vintage home
We quote what the wall actually needs. If two patches will do, we say so — a full replacement costs more, and we don’t push it onto a wall that doesn’t require it.
How a Full Install Runs
- Protect everything first. Floors, furniture, and fixtures are covered before the first board moves.
- Check the framing. Studs and joists get inspected, blocking added where sheets need support.
- Hang the board. Sheets cut tight around outlets, windows, and corners, screwed down on the right schedule.
- Tape and coat three times. Each coat gets its drying time and a sanding. This is where good walls and lumpy walls part ways.
- Texture and finish. We apply your chosen texture — or match the existing one — leaving the surface paint-ready.
Remodels Across Richardson
This city stays busy with remodeling — kitchen refreshes in the established neighborhoods, garage conversions, home offices carved out of spare rooms, and additions along the quieter east side. We fit into your project’s timeline, work around other trades while walls are open, and hand back surfaces that are ready for paint the day we leave.
The Right Board for Every Room
Not all drywall is the same, and we install each type where it belongs:
- Standard half-inch board — everyday walls and ceilings
- Moisture-resistant board — bathrooms, laundry rooms, and wet-prone walls
- Fire-rated board — garage walls and shared walls where code requires it
- Sound-dampening board — media rooms, nurseries, and shared-bedroom walls
Older Homes Need a Gentle Hand
The vintage homes near Richardson’s downtown square sometimes carry plaster over wood lath rather than drywall. You can’t just screw board over a century-old finish and hope the transition hides itself. We plan the junction between new drywall and old plaster so the seam doesn’t show and the character of the home stays intact.
We Leave the Site Clean
Full installs generate dust and offcuts — that’s the nature of the work. What’s not unavoidable is leaving them behind. We contain the zone, tidy as we go, and remove every scrap and empty bucket before we sign off.
